Frequently asked questions

We've documented the Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) Data Model here. Use this to browse the tables, columns and foreign keys we create in your data warehouse.
Grab your data warehouse credentials from your SyncHub Dashboard, then simply use the standard Database Connector in SQL Server to connect to SyncHub and begin building your reports. And, if you need help building your reports, our Services Store can introduce you to a helpful professional.
Yes! That's exactly what SyncHub was designed for. Just use the standard Database Connector in SQL Server to connect to SyncHub and start bringing in your data.
Reporting on Lightspeed R-Series data directly via its API is simply not practical in SQL Server. For one thing, cross-entity queries involve joining across multiple endpoints - something that is poor-performing at best and impossible at worst. That's why SyncHub stages your Lightspeed R-Series data in a relational database first. Now, your reports have all the power of regular SQL queries - joins, ordering, filtering, grouping, and more - leaving you free to create the reports you need without restriction.
SyncHub can poll Lightspeed R-Series as frequently as every five minutes, however this capability may be limited by the amount of data you have and/or the type of plan you have with Lightspeed R-Series. The best way to find out is to simply grab a free trial of SyncHub, connect Lightspeed R-Series, then see for yourself.
This is a great use case for SyncHub. Each account you connect to will be synced to the same database and stored in its own separate schema. This keeps each account in its own data silo, while allowing you to query across schemas to easily build reports across all your Lightspeed R-Series accounts.
SyncHub will (E)xtract your raw data from Lightspeed R-Series and (L)oad it into your normalized, relational data warehouse. You can then use our Insights platform to (T)ransform your data so that you can report on it easily, such as building monthly rollups or normalizing currencies.
SyncHub steps in where out-of-the-box reporting solutions fall over. We don't presume to know the questions you have of your data, and thus we don't provide any reports. What we do give you is raw data - as pure as possible - so you can build the reports that you need for your business. Of course, if you need help, you're sure to find a helpful professional in our Services Store.
We currently sync Category, Contact, Customer, Customer type, Discount, Employee, Inventory count, Inventory count item, Inventory log, Inventory transfer, Inventory transfer item, Item shop, Item price, Item tag, Item custom field value, Item, Item attribute set, Item custom field choice, Item custom field, Item matrix price, Item matrix, Item vendor, Manufacturer, Order, Order custom field, Order custom field choice, Order line, Order shipment item, Order shipment, Quote, Register, Sale, Sale line, Sale payment, Shop, Special order, Tag, Tax category, Vendor, Workorder, Workorder item, Workorder line, Workorder status and Order custom field value (see our Data Model for full details). If there's something else you need just ask.
Your Lightspeed R-Series data is stored in its own dedicated data warehouse, hosted in our Microsoft Azure Sydney Data Center. If you'd like it stored somewhere else (even your own servers), just enquire about our BYOD (bring-your-own-database) option.
Absolutely. Every customer gets their very own isolated data warehouse. Database credentials are salt-encrypted...multi-factor authentication can be activated for your account...we take security very seriously. You can read more about our security best practices here.
There are many ways to query data from Lightspeed R-Series - CSV exports, Native Reports, API access etc. But for all but the most trivial reports, you need a staging service like SyncHub to ensure performance and uptime. See our detailed breakdown here to understand where a tool like SyncHub fits into your analytics stack.
No. SyncHub is a reporting tool and cannot reflect changes back to your cloud application.
With SyncHub, you can create any report you like. This is because (unlike other reporting tools) we give you access to your raw Lightspeed R-Series data. If you don't already have a reporting tool, you can use our Insights platform or grab one of our recommended 3rd-party tools then use its standard Database Connector to connect to SyncHub and begin pulling down your data.

We have a lot of ambitious clients who want to get as close as they can to their business data but it’s often siloed in different systems, so while they were able to look at each dataset in isolation, bringing all the right metrics together was challenging.

The SyncHub experience was fantastic. It does what is says on the tin! The connection process is simple, the documentation is good and the communication with the team has been first class.

The SyncHub team got us to where we wanted to be and I think we all wonder how we ever lived without it.

SyncHub has allowed us to see week-to-week exactly how much staff and product we need in our stores.
